WEATHER CASTING
Single Channel Art Video | 35 m | 2026
Conflating prediction and actualisation, weather lore and techno-agency, divination and doom, Weather Casting is a moving-image work that explores shifts from forecasting the weather to “casting” it into reality. Set within a future global tropics due to global warming, the work speculates on the supposed “normalcy” of humanity’s future geoengineering prowess to achieve mastery over the weather.

Comprising a series of fictional news presenters reporting on geoengineered weather across the Asian–Pacific monsoon system that spans Southeast Asia to East Asia - the two lobes of the same planetary engine. The work weaves a world-building narrative of a fictional climate future, centred on a monsoon system that brings not only moisture from the Indian Ocean into and across Southeast and East Asia, but with it, millennia of myths and religions.

In the process, shaping and sharing not only the atmospheric, but also the cultural across the regions.
